About Walton County

We're proud to serve Walton County.

JAT Specialties builds across Walton County, from the beach communities along 30A to the pine country north of the bay. We are a Walton County company ourselves, which means the crews on your job are not driving in from another market and clocking out the second the light fades.

Why we build in Walton County

Walton County covers an enormous amount of ground and almost none of it builds the same way. A home going up near the coast has to answer to wind load, salt air and flood elevation. A home north of the bay is a different set of soils, a different water table and a different permitting path. We build in both halves of this county and we plan for what each one asks of a house.

A little about Walton County

Walton County was established in 1824 and takes in more than a thousand square miles between the Choctawhatchee Bay and the Alabama line. Its two halves grew up almost separately, DeFuniak Springs became the county seat and a Chautauqua town in the 1880s, while the coastal strip stayed quiet until the 30A beach communities took shape a century later. Both halves are still growing, and both still build.

What Makes Us Different

Not all builders are created equal.

  1. A finished JAT Specialties home with a pool courtyard and screened porch.

We are ICF specialists, not dabblers

Plenty of builders will quote you an ICF house. Very few build them regularly. Insulated Concrete Form construction is what we are known for on this coast, a steel-reinforced concrete wall, insulated on both faces, that stands up to storms, stays quiet and cuts what you spend cooling it.

  2. A finished kitchen and great room with white shaker cabinetry and wide-plank hardwood floors.

    Engineering sits behind the build

Jeremy's background runs through civil engineering, construction administration, architectural project management, site supervision, site design and surveying. That is an unusual foundation for a homebuilder, and it shows up in how site, drainage and structural questions get answered, early, and properly.

  3. Jeremy and Mitchell Trantina standing either side of the lettered JAT Specialties company trailer.

You get the family, not a middleman

JAT is a family company. Jeremy started it in 2006, Mitchell joined in 2016 and Mason in 2023. When you hire us, the people who own the business are the people on your job, which is the whole reason our estimates hold and our punch lists actually get closed.
